Thankful Thursday - Year 3 Week 14

Welcome to Thankful Thursday!  Each Thursday, I host a "Thankful Thursday" link up so that we can share with each other the things in our lives that we are grateful for right now.  I am in my third year of hosting this link up.  I have felt strongly for a long time that it is important to stop and take a moment to recount the things in our lives for which we are thankful.  When life is full of challenges, it is often hard to think of anything that could possibly be worthy of giving thanks.  I felt that way for a long time.  However, once I got into the weekly habit of doing this, I found that there are always things to be thankful for - even if the most difficult of life's seasons.  It goes beyond that.  Developing an attitude of thanksgiving can change your outlook on life.  Even if you don't have a post to link up, I'd love to encourage you to just stop where you are and think of three things that you are thankful for.  Do that each day.  It's amazing how much we have to be thankful for even when it doesn't feel like there is anything!

This week I am thankful for:

*  Physical healing.  Slowly but surely, that foot of mine is healing.  It's sore in new ways each day it seems, but I think it's just some of the feeling coming back.  It feels so bizarre.  I've been pushing myself to do a little more each day.  It's not easy and there are times when I just don't feel like it because, well, it just plain hurts.  However, pushing through the pain {but not overdoing it} is allowing me to begin organizing the chaos in the second bedroom upstairs.  We want to get it organized into a nice sitting room / office / guest room.  We have set a deadline for when this needs to be completed by.  It's a process, but it's coming along!

*  A loving and supportive husband who "gets" me.  I love him for who he is and for all he has done for me.  I cannot imagine doing life without him!

*  God's strength and healing.  The other day, I wrote a post on Peyton's blog in which I discussed what life is like for me nine months after her passing.  You can read that post HERE.  Grief changes over time, but sometimes you hit a date that is a marker for you for some reason.  I am in a season of "markers" right now.  Peyton's health really began declining between October 2012 and January of 2013, but it was in February of 2013 when she started having broken bones and some more serious respiratory issues.  I've been having some "off" days lately and some flashbacks to how things were a year ago.  It's been difficult.  I haven't been myself.  But I know that God is greater than all of this and He is with me.  These are a couple pictures from this week last year.  Peyton was in the hospital from February 10-14, 2013.  The day she was discharged, her nurse gave me a Valentine for her, signed by a lot of the staff on her unit.  I still have it and will always treasure that.

What are you thankful for this week?
