November 2013 ipsy Glam Bag Review

If you have been visiting my blog for any length of time, you know that I have been doing a review of a particular beauty box I have been subscribing to since April of 2012.  I recently decided to check out another beauty subscription - the ipsy Glam Bag.  Much like my other subscription, I signed up and was waitlisted.  I didn't have to wait very long {a month perhaps} to become active.  This month, I received my first package!

Just like the other subscription, the ipsy Glam Bag is $10.00 a month.  For this price, you receive a "Glam Bag" filled with several sample or full size "deluxe" beauty products.  By way of comparison, the other subscription comes in a box, not an actual little makeup bag.  That's not really the selling point for me, but it's a nice bonus.

This month's ipsy Glam Bag arrived on my doorstep in a bright pink envelope which matched the actual Glam Bag itself.  The bag is a fun gold wristlet style pouch with a hot pink zipper to match the lining of the bag.

I thought I would get four or five items in my bag.  I also expected them to be mainly sample sized products, which is what I get in my other subscription.  I received six items.  Of those six items, there is only one item which I don't think is full size, but it's still a nice sized sample!  Here's what was in my ipsy Glam Bag:

Cailyn Built-In Sponge Tip Mineral Eyeshadow | Champagne - At first I thought this was a bottle of nail polish because of the product packaging.  Wrong!  It is a really cool packaging for a mineral eyeshadow.  I love the color - "Champagne".  What I received appears to be a full size product.  If that's the case, this Glam Bag is already worth the $10 I paid for it.  Retail - $15

Pixi Beauty Bronzer | Subtly Suntouched - I was excited to see this product.  I've heard of the brand but haven't yet tried anything.  I love this product, but the color is not for me.  I would have preferred something lighter than "Subtly Suntouched".  This was the one item I didn't think to be a full size product.  The full size version comes with a Kabuki brush for application.  Retail - $18

Starlooks Gem Eye Pencil | Topaz - Another full sized product, this eye pencil in "Topaz" is a fun shimmery silver shade, perfect for the holidays.  I needed a new eyeliner, so this was a great find in my Glam Bag!  Retail - $14

Be a Bombshell Lip Crayon | Shameless - Do you ever find yourself running out of everything at once?  That's me right now.  In addition to eyeliner, I was also in need of lip color.  This lip crayon arrived at just the right time - and in just the right color.  "Shameless" is described as "a burgundy with shimmer".  I like it a lot.  Retail - $14

Nailtini Straight Up Color Nail Lacquer | Caviar Cocktail - This full size nail lacquer is a "gunmetal gray spiked with shimmer".  It's a fun color.  Not one I'd normally go for, but I like it.  And it's not just a sample size, so that's cool too.  If this isn't the color for me, there certainly are plenty of other options available by this brand.  Retail - $13

em michelle phan Pillow Plush Cushiony Lip Balm | Bubblegum - I love lip balm!  I love getting lip balm samples.  This one may be full size.  If it's not, it's a pretty good sized sample!  I love it.  It's soft and smooth.  The color is great too.  Retail - $15

Each product listed under the Glam Bag on the ipsy site has a link which directs to the actual product website for purchase.  I found that ipsy provided promo codes for substantial discounts on the products, so that's a plus!  I received 100 ipsy points for signing up and 10 points per review of each product on their site.  The points structure is completely different from my other subscription, but they have deals available to turn your points into merchandise, so I'll have to start saving.

I loved my first Glam bag.  It was great fun checking out the new products.  I loved that they were mostly full size products.  When I consider that it only cost $10 for the Glam Bag, it's great deal.  I figure the retail cost of the contents of the bag has to be over $70.  The bonus is that they are all great products.  Not a "dud" in the bag!  I can't wait to see what's in next month's bag!
