Thankful Thursday - Week 39

Psalm 9:1 (NIV)
I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.

God's goodness abounds even in the midst of difficulty.  We have been very blessed by so many people.  We are planning our trip to Boston to take Peyton to the Children's Hospital.  The logistics are overwhelming.  It is reminding us of why it is that we do not take family vacations.  The last time we traveled as a family was in July 2010 for my mother's funeral.  Prior to that, it was quite some time.  It's too overwhelming.  As it is right now, it will be a very tight squeeze to fit all of Peyton's equipment in our vehicle. We were amazed this week at the generosity of one couple who has seen to it that we have a vehicle large enough to travel more easily.  I cannot even begin to express how overwhelmed we were at this act.  It will definitely make our travels more comfortable.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

There is just so much to be grateful for this week.  Despite Peyton's continuing sickness and a setback earlier this week, there is  much to be thankful for.

You can read all about Peyton's journey HERE,

We have truly seen God's work in our lives.  We have been blessed by so many wonderful people - many of whom we do not even know.  People have been so kind to us over the past weeks.  I am continuously amazed by the generosity of others.  I'm astounded by the generosity of strangers.  I am grateful to the ladies who have organized meals for our family.  I'm so thankful to all the people who have graciously given of their time and efforts to provide meals for us.  It has been an incredible amount of help to know that I have not had to be concerned about meal planning lately.

Philippians 4:6 (NLT)
Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything.  Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done.

As Peyton still continues to be sick, we are still praying for her health and for a dramatic turn-around for her. We will be traveling with her on IV antibiotics which adds another level of complexity.  We were not originally going to go if this were the case, but we are grateful for the encouragement of her pulmonary doctor this week that as long as she doesn't get worse, that this trip is something we should try to make happen.  We will continue to pray for her and for safe travels.  Particularly we will be praying that she does not suffer any set backs with her health while we are on the road.
