On January 1, I began my second-ever year long bible study.Our pastor calls it the "Daily Wisdom Challengeor the "Twitter Bible Study".

The purpose is to engage in a reading plan for a year, and each day, post insight from your reading in 140 characters or less.

Here is what I learned this past week:
{links included for the scripture referenced only}

Proverbs 12:25 Be a light to someone who is going through a hard time. Speak an encouraging word to lift them up.

Proverbs 12:26 Sound advice can be obtained from godly people, but the wicked only seek to lead you astray.

Luke 14:11 Don't set yourself high above others. You will be put in your place. Humble yourself and you will be rewarded.

Proverbs 13:1 It is wise to accept correction from your parents. They are trying to lead you along the right path. Foolish are those who mock them.

Proverbs 13:3 It is wise to be able to hold your tongue. One word can ruin everything.

Joshua 10:12-14 If the Lord could cause the sun to stand still for Joshua surely He has the power to answer our fervent prayers.

As an aside, Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC wrote a book called "Sun Stand Still".  It is about the power of prayer and, specifically, praying the impossible prayers.  At some point or another in our lives, we may have come across a "sun stand still" moment where we needed God to intervene in a huge way.  This book discusses this very thing.  It is a must read in my opinion!

Luke 17:33 When the Son of Man returns, will we be ready to give our lives to be saved or will we be too busy trying to cling to this worldly life?
