First Day of School - Round 3

It is just after midnight on the 16th as I am writing this.  In about seven and a half hours, I will be sending you, Moira, off for your first day of school for the third time in your life.

Second grade this year!  Where on earth did the time go??  When did this little preemie of mine grow up??  It was only yesterday you were this small, wasn't it??

But now here you are, summer vacation is now over and you're off to join your friends at school for another year.

Your clothes are laid out and ready to go.
A shiny sparkly pair of new shoes all set to be worn.

Your school supplies are purchased.
They are have been labeled.
They are in your pink back pack ready to go for the year.

It's unbelievable how many school supplies a second grader needs!
This isn't how it was back in my day!!

Enjoy your three boxes of crayons this year, sweet girl.
Next year, it's only one box.
Then none.
You're growing up so fast!!

Never would I have imagined that there would be a total of 96 sharpened number two pencils required by one single second grader.
And by every other second grader in the school.
I hope you enjoy those pencils, my child.
Your mother is sporting blisters of love from the hour or so it took to sharpen those for you!
Maybe you can ask Santa for an electric pencil sharpener for Christmas??  Just a suggestion!

You're sound asleep right now but were so wound up with excitement and anticipation of what your first day back to school would bring.
You're off on another new adventure.
Show your teacher the very best Moira you can be.
Use those skills given to you by God.
You're such an amazingly smart girl.
A fantastic reader.
A really sweet girl with a lot to give.
Be the best friend you can be to your class mates.
Be a friend to someone who doesn't have a friend.
Help someone who needs help.
Show them how caring you can be.

I wish you much success in this year ahead, Moira.
I am so incredibly proud of you.
I love you so much!!

Proverbs 22:6

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Train up a child in the way he should go,

Even when he is old he will not depart from it.
