Simple Pleasures - Family Night

After writing the pie blog post, I thought I might try writing blogs periodically about "Simple Pleasures"; that is, the simple things in life that often get taken for granted or overlooked as something you can derive sheer joy from.  Tonight, it was family night!  Well, 3/4 of the family since Peyton was home with her nurse.

The company Ron works for (Blackbaud) had a night out at the local USL soccer team's home game - Charleston Battery vs Pittsburgh Riverhounds.  Free food, free drinks, free tickets to the game...what's not to love?!?!  The thing of it is, we very seldom ever get out like this.  Between demands on the family, work, illness, exhaustion, financial constraints, and so on, we just don't ever do anything like this.  I'd never been to a professional soccer game (I missed this same event last year because Peyton was in the hospital).  It was amazingly wonderful to get out of the house tonight.  I honestly haven't set foot outside for a few days or so.  It's terrible.  No wonder I'm vitamin D deficient!!  Everything just lined up perfectly to allow us this opportunity as a family.  Health, nursing, weather, etc.  Praise God!!  It was even Christmas in June at the game tonight!!

Psalm 150 (NLT)

 1 Praise the Lord!
   Praise God in his sanctuary;

      praise him in his mighty heaven! 2 Praise him for his mighty works;
      praise his unequaled greatness! 3 Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn;

      praise him with the lyre and harp! 4 Praise him with the tambourine and dancing;
      praise him with strings and flutes! 5 Praise him with a clash of cymbals;

      praise him with loud clanging cymbals. 6 Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord!

   Praise the Lord!
