On February 14th, Seacoast Church and Healing Farm Ministries joined forces to have a "Luke 14 Banquet" at Seacoast. What is a "Luke 14 Banquet", you ask?? Luke 14:12-14 (NIV) states:
12 Then Jesus said to his host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid.13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind,14 and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
The concept was simple. Seacoast and Healing Farm Ministries invited people from all walks to join them for a banquet so that they could serve the special needs people of the community. They wound up with 160 people attending. Check out the link below to a scrapbook slideshow put together by HFM:
What we found when we went to the banquet was a room full of volunteers who were ready and willing to assist and serve us with any need we had from the moment we arrived until the moment we left the church. The love in the room was beyond words. The Holy Spirit filled the room like you wouldn't believe. Our family was loved and taken care of for an evening. We did not have to worry about anyone or anything. We truly, for once, felt completely free from any concerns that evening. After we left, I think I was on a "Luke 14" high for a week!!
Special thanks to Seacoast and HFM for organizing the event. Special thanks as well to Gary & Melinda McElveen for capturing the spirit of the event so beautifully. I've got a link to "Saved in His Image Photography" on the blog. Their work is amazing!
